One Life...

Dear Jesus,

Today is a new day that I believe will be hard. I’m realizing my hair is definitely thinning out. So, my sweet Jesus, prepare me for any and everything! I desire Your will to be done and for You, My God to be glorified. Help me rely upon Your love through the storms and through the rain, like the sun shining down from above. I rely upon Your love. Teach me Your Word today that I may know and love You more!

Jesus, I love You be now my vision and be now glorified.

-Reaffirm your love for Him, our sufficiency is from God – the Spirit gives life.

"A great wind and storm arose, and the waves beat into the boat, so that it was already filling. But He was in the stern, asleep on a pillow. And they awoke Him and said to Him, 'Teacher, do you not care that we are perishing?' Then He arose and rebuked the wind, and said to the sea, 'Peace, be still!' And the wind ceased and there was a great calm. But He said to them, 'Why are you so fearful? How is it that you have no faith?' 'Teacher, do you not care that we are perishing?' Mark 4:25-41

Oh yes, HE CARES! I want the storm to end NOW! In the midst of a great storm my cry is, "HELP!" Jesus immediately comes to my rescue. But He doesn't always quiet the storm - He quiets me. He rides out the storm with me and exposes my fears, my little faith, my doubts and my lack of complete trust in Him.

Jesus is the Creator - By Him all things were created - all things were created through Him and for Him! He is in control of the storm in my life. He will rebuke it in His time when He has accomplished His will through it. I will not succumb! I will persevere! I will learn bravery and courage. My faith will grow. My doubts will dissipate. The greatest gift I'm given while in the storm is experiencing the trustworthiness of my Lord and Savior Jesus! Being able to trust the Lord with all my heart and leaning not on my own understanding can only come about by knowing HIM! Experiencing Him! Believing Him through the storm and through the rain!

Thank you Jesus that you are in this storm with me. You care about me! You love me! You are working in me and in all who are caught up in this hurricane with me. I will settle in the eye of the storm where You will give me peace and calm as I wait for You to rebuke the wind in your timing. Janette

Reaffirm your love for Him, our sufficiency is from God – the Spirit gives life.

The Bible tells me so . . .

Trust in the LORD with all your heart, And lean not on your own understanding; - Proverbs 3:5 NKJV

For by Him all things were created that are in heaven and that are on earth, visible and invisible, whether thrones or dominions or principalities or powers. All things were created through Him and for Him. - Colossians1:16 NKJV

When the unexpected happens how do you respond? Or, to take it further when your dreams are dashed and there is no hope to fulfill the purpose you had imagined for your life, how do you respond?

My husband Mark and I have had many discussions on this topic. We watched our daughter Melissa's response to finding out she had ovarian cancer. "Oh, Mom, that is so great. God is going to do amazing things!" We observed her response to the news she needed a hysterectomy two months before her wedding. "Oh, no matter if my womb is barren or blessed I will help bring children into a deep love and adoration for You!" These are not normal responses from a 20 year old woman who dreamed of being a wife and mother and serving the Lord alongside of her husband, Melissa's responses were supernatural. and rooted in her knowledge of the eternal purpose for her life.

When the unexpected happens it doesn't change our mission or our purpose. Jesus was asked, "'Teacher, which is the great commandment in the law?' Jesus said to him, "'You shall love the LORD your God with all your heart, with all your soul, and with all your mind.' 'This is the first and great commandment. 'And the second is like it: 'You shall love your neighbor as yourself.' 'On these two commandments hang all the Law and the Prophets.'" - Matthew 22:36-40 NKJV As a follower of Jesus Christ my purpose is to love the LORD my God with all my heart, soul and mind. My mission is to love others as myself." My circumstances do not influence my purpose or my mission. Every unexpected turn in the road is an opportunity to love Him more, shine for Jesus and share His great love with others.

No matter what happens in my life, in my country or the world my purpose and mission remain the same. I want to live every day on purpose and on mission. I am grateful for my daughter Melissa's example of living this out. I've been forever influenced by her life, her great love and intimacy with Jesus, and her responses to life's hardest trials.

You can read Melissa's journals and the details of her journey in Melissa, If One Life . . . available on Amazon.
